The strategic success of handball coaches from the perspective of their players

Abstract

This research aims to provide a metric for evaluating the strategic success of handball coaches from the perspective of their players, using five dimensions of strategic success: survival, adaptation and reaction, development, strategic implementation, and ongoing inventiveness.  The research issue was initiated by some coaches lacking the components of strategic success, resulting in their deficiencies being mirrored in the team's athletic performance.  A theoretical model has been constructed that embodies the researchers' understanding of the interaction among the factors.  The research was carried out within the sports community, specifically among players from 15 handball clubs in the elite league for the 2024-2025 season, comprising a total of 270 players. Essential data for the field aspect was collected via a specially designed questionnaire, resulting in a study sample of 160 surveyed players. Data analysis was conducted using the statistical software SPSS.V.23.  Consequent to these findings, the researchers proposed several recommendations, the foremost being that the administrative bodies of sports clubs should prioritise strategic success and implement this scale to cultivate a clear vision and adequate expertise, thereby enhancing the proficiency of coaches.
